The treasures of the king boy Tut Ankh Amon

Visit with me the temple of Horus the falcon in the Citiy of Edfu

The city of Edfu is situated about 150 km south of Luxor City . The temple of Horus ( a falcon ) is one of the highly preserved temple in Egypt. This temple is rich with the decoration and  The facade of this temple is considered one of the biggest and highest facades in the Egyptian temples

When you get in the open court of the temple of Edfu you will come accross an important statue of the falcon Horus. Horus is the first title of the ruler of Egypt and Horus is the guardian of the kingship of Egypt during the Pharaohs time

In the heart of the temple of Edfu you will come to the most important room in this temple according to the old believes of some of the Egyptians. In this room lives the spirit of  the falcon Horus represented by  a statue made from pure gold and hidden in a shrine made from one hard stone with a door from wood. In front of this shrine you will find the boat of the ceremonies  which was carried on the shoulders of the servants of the temple during  the inundation of the Nile every year

In this photo you will see the shrine of the gold statue of Horus and in front of  this shrine you will see the chair where a boat  sits as shown in the former photo

In this photo you will see a goose with a circle above. This scene  is part of the name of the king of Egypt which we call cartouche. This circle means the Sun named Re and the goose means the son . The whole sentence means : the Son of Re

In this photo you will see a sort of plant at the left hand side and a bee at the right  hand side. This scene is also a part of the name of the king : the cartouche. This plant means Upper Egypt and the bee means Lower  Egypt . The whole carving means the King of Upper and lower Egypt. Since the Nile flow from Africa to Egypt we call Upper Egypt to all Cities situated before Cairo and we call Lower Egypt to all Cities from Cairo to the Mediterranean see at the north side of Egypt

The temple of Edfu was built during the followers of Alexander the great to show the Egyptians their respect of the ancient Egyptian believes . On the walls,  there are scenes  show  the victory of Horus over his uncle Set who killed the father of Horus Osiris. In this scene Set is shown as a hippo and Horus ride him in a victory scene
